Open Bodies for Opera

OBFO is a collective run by Filipa Portela, created to develop it’s first Open Bodies for Opera project: an opera by F. Poulenc, in an intimate re-arrangement for only piano and voice.

The philosophy and mission of Open Bodies for Opera is to investigate the dialectical relationship between body, mind, and a third element, the voice: a result of the relation between the first and second elements.

OBFO was created because of our passion for physical theatre, particularly the method of Jacques Lecoq, and after reflection on the importance of disciplines like Alexander Technique when we are dealing with the operatic voice and its necessary emotional dimensions.
